Strategy in online keno is not as strict as, say, blackjack or poker. In fact, the best keno strategies revolve around only two aspects of the game: how you manage your bankroll, and how many numbers to choose.
1. Managing your bankroll
Betting in keno is very similar to betting in slots. You bet a fixed amount repeated times, in the hopes of winning a major jackpot. The only difference is that keno has a slower game pace, thus siphoning money from the player slower. The slow pace of the game is an advantage when it comes to managing your bankroll.

The first thing that you need to do when managing your bankroll is to choose an initial amount which you'll use to play. If you have a credit worth $1000 in an online casino, you might want to split that into five days. Thus, for each day, you only have $200 to spare. This is to avoid being bankrupt early on, especially since more playing money means more time spent playing, and extended game times often leads to a tired mind and rash decisions.
The next thing that you need to do is to set aside your winnings. By ding so, you will surely bring home something, and might even profit more. This is to avoid the tendency of most players to re-bet their winnings, eventually making them lose everything in the long run.
Setting aside your winnings might be difficult to do in an online setting, since you don't really hold any physical representation of your credits. The best thing to do is to have a pen and paper ready, and do the accounting. An easy way to do this is to make two columns on a piece of paper. One column would track how much of your initial bankroll remains. The other column would be a list of how much you have won so far.
If you have profited from the game, you can choose to re-bet some of your winnings. Since what you will be betting is excess money, there would be no trouble. However, do this in moderation, or you could end up losing instead of profiting.
2. Deciding on how many numbers to choose
The quantity of spots that you choose determines your odds of winning. The easiest route to take is to choose the maximum number of spots allowed by the online casino. So if the casino allows 20 spots, choose twenty spots.
The reason for this is fairly simple: the more spots you choose, the more numbers could be drawn. Also, since payout in keno is based on probability, you have two options of winning if you have a large set of spots: get hit many times, or get hit with nothing.
Most online casinos offer payouts for 0, 1, and 2 hits in 20 spots. This is because achieving that feat is probabilistically harder than getting hit 7 times in 20. If you have chosen only three spots, you would have gone home with nothing in the scenario of not being hit a single spot. This is because the probability of not getting any hits in three spots is fairly high.
These two strategies are all you need when playing keno. Do not believe in some strategies regarding the order of choosing consecutive or non-consecutive numbers. There's always an equal chance of drawing a 2-3-4-5 and a 2-25-68-40. Also, there would be no difference between changing your numbers each draw and maintaining it. The odds will always be the same, no matter what numbers you choose and how long you have played them.
