| Blackjack Card Counting |
Blackjack Card Counting is a strategy of the card game that determines the advantageous probabilities for a player. Card counting is a term used exclusively for referring the tracking activity of ratio between low-value cards and high-value cards. Generally, the decks of cards that contain good proportion of high-value cards such as aces, low cards and ten-valued cards are better for players and not for dealers. The decks of cards rich in aces and 10s improve the odds of player, as the game provides high payout rather than just winning hands.
Card counters need to be skilled to count cards is purely a myth, as card counting is not about memorizing and tracking specific cards. Rather, card counters allocate a specific point value to every card, so that they can track the exact total score, which is named as count. This fairy tale was shown in a movie called "Rain Man", wherein Raymond Babbit (a savant character) counts through six decks easily, when being challenged by the employee of a casino.

In addition, the movie named "21" shows that card counting is very difficult and scholarly task, which is a false. Generally, card counting allocates negative, positive and a null value to the particular cards.
Multiple card counting programs are available. However, Harvey Dubner proposed the Hi-Lo card counting system in the year of 1963, which is refined by Stanford Wong and Julian Braun. This refined card counting system is very basic and illustrative. In this system, +1 is assigned to cards of face 2 to 6. On the other hand, face cards and 10s are allocated as -1, whereas cards of 7, 8 and 9 are allocated as zero (also known as neutral). The neutral valued cards can be overlooked. This system of counting cards is perfect and well balanced. According to this system, a deck consists of equal number of -1 and +1 cards. Thus, all the cards in the deck will be counted as zero.
Another popular type of card counting system is True Count. In this system, player has to divide the number of decks present in the Shoe. This type of count is simple. However, the most complex part of this system is the estimation of inactive number of decks. To learn this card counting system, player needs frequent practice that can be performed by viewing the trays of casinos along with playing cards and then estimating the figure of used decks. Many experts consider true count as the core of card counting system in Blackjack, as it helps a player to figure out the appropriate size of the bet and tactics to change the basic strategy for playing Blackjack.
The discussion is still active about the legality of card counting in casino and Blackjack. Many casinos consider card counting as a legal activity until it is done with the help of certain devices such as calculator or computer, whereas, in some casinos, card counting is illegal in Blackjack and if found practicing then strict action would be taken.
